Andriy GusakAndriy GUSAK

     Born in 1954, Lviv (Ukraine),
    Graduated from Moscow State University in 1976 with honours, specialized in theoretical physics (diploma work – algebraic approach to the quantum theory of tachyons).
     1978-1982 – PhD student in the Institute of Metallurgy of Academy of Sciences of USSR (Moscow), supervisor prof.Cyrill Gurov.
     March 1983 – defence of PhD thesis in the Institute for Metal Physics, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences – Candidate of Sciences (Solid State Physics). Topic – theory of diffusion in bimetallic layers.
    December 1992 – defence of second thesis in Kharkov State (now National) University – Doctor of sciences (Solid State Physics). Topic – interdiffusion, reactive diffusion and phase competition in small-grained systems.
     Since 1986 – associate professor (docent) at the Department of Physics,
     Since 1993- full professor at the same department,
     1994-2001- Chair of Theoretical Physics, Cherkasy State University.
    July 2007 – June 2008 – vice-rector of Cherkasy National University, responsible for science and international relations.
   Since 2010 – Chair of the Department of Theoretical Physics, Cherkasy National University
    Since 1995 – Honored worker of science and technology of Ukraine.
    During period 1992-2011 was a supervisor of 14 PhD students, who successfully defended their thesis in Kiev and Kharkov, were approved by Supreme Attestation Committee in Kiev and became PhD (Candidates of Science).  
    1993 - Award of American Physical Society for scientists of former Soviet Union.
    1994-1995 – Leader of joint team (Cherkasy+Moscow) which obtained long-term grant of International Science Foundation (U11000 and U11200) .
    2001-2003 – Leader of team which obtained long-term INTAS project (#784) together with teams from Eindhoven (Netherlands), Grenoble (France) and Kharkov (Ukraine).
   2003- 2005 – Ukrainian PI (principal investigator) of CRDF (Civilian Research and Development Foundation) Ukrainian-USA joint project UE1-2523-CK-03
   Organizer of four international conferences on diffusion and phase transformations (DIFTRANS) in 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2007.
    Member of International Advisory Boards of main important diffusion meetings in Europe since 1996 (DIMAT-1996-Muenster, Germany; DIMAT-2000-Paris, France; DIMAT-2004-Krakow, Poland, DIFREA-1999, Poland 1999, DISO 2005, Moscow, Russia; Diffusion and Stresses 2006, Hungary; CIMTEC 2006, Italy)
